Can I receive or make phone calls from tablet with SIM card ?

Is it possible to make phone calls or receive phone calls on tablet, when it does have a SIM card slot ?

The most tablets with SIM card slot do not support the making or receiving of phone calls in the same way as a mobile phones do. These tablets use SIM card mainly for an internet connection / mobile data. But there is an option to use an internet connection to make a call.
