Difference between Intel, AMD, Apple, Qualcomm, Mediatek CPU
What is the difference between Intel, AMD, Apple, Qualcomm Snapdragon and Mediatek CPU?
Who is making better CPUs?
The main difference between Intel, AMD, Apple, Qualcomm Snapdragon and Mediatek CPUs is the architecture.
Intel and AMD use x86 architecture, that prioritizes high-performance computing and heavy workloads. x86 architecture uses complex instruction set computing. Single instructions can handle multiple or complex steps.
Qualcomm, Apple and Mediatek use ARM architecture, that prioritizes energy efficiency and low heat. These CPUs have a high performance per watt. ARM architecture uses reduced instruction set computing. It breaks operations into simple steps, that can be processed fast.
In the past, ARM architecture CPUs were energy efficient, but their performance was not so high. Today their performance is much higher and ARM architecture is expanding into traditional x86 laptop and desktop devices.
You can find Qualcomm CPUs in some Dell, Microsoft, HP, Lenovo and Acer laptops. Qualcomm CPUs work with computers with Windows operating system.
Apple CPUs are used in MacBooks.
