Is Bitcoin transitioning from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake ?

Is Bitcoin in transition from proof of work to proof of stake ? Will it use proof of stake concept in the future ?

Bitcoin is currently using proof of work algorithm, so because of that as it is growing, it has high energy consumption. Proof of stake algorithm is considered to be more energy efficient. The transition to proof of stake should reduce the enviromental impact of a cryptocurrency.

The transition of Bitcoin to proof stake protocol would be a good improvement, but it has not been officialy announced or confirmed, so it is not expected to become real soon.
