To increase the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries, it is recommended to not fully charge them. Lithium-ion batteries are commonly used in mobile phones or laptops. Full charge or full discharge has a negative impact on lifespan of this type of batteries.

Some manufacturers simply recommend to charge battery to less than 100%. But there are also manufacturers who recommend to charge battery only up to 80% or 90%.

It is recommended to not fully charge the battery, whether it is a Li-Ion or Li-Po.

You can enable the charging limit in your phone, to charge the battery only to the certain level.

iPhone

If you have iPhone, you have to enable Optimized Battery Charging in the settings. It will charge the battery to 80%.

Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health > Optimized Battery Charging

Android phone

If you have Android phone, you have to enable Protect Battery feature in the settings. It will charge the battery to 85%.

Go to Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > More battery settings
