According to estimates, around 79% of oil reserves were located in OPEC member countries and they generated around 42% of the world's total crude oil production in the past. The number of OPEC members was decreased to 14 in January 2019 and later to 13 in January 2020.

OPEC plus had around 90% of global oil reserves and had around 55% share of the world's crude oil production. These numbers are approximate and they are not the most recent.
