Hi,

I would say that good mobile phone displays have more than 400 PPI and average displays have around 300 PPI. Top smartphone screens have pixel density more than 500 PPI.

To calculate pixels per inch, you have to know the screen width and height in pixels and diagonal screen size in inches. The formula looks like:

PPI pixels per inch how to calculate formula

For example, when you have a mobile phone with screen resolution 2960 x 1440 pixels and diagonal screen size 6.4 inches, the calculation will be:

( 1440 * 1400 ) + ( 2960 * 2960 ) = 10835200

? 10835200 = 3291.6865

3291.6865 / 6.4 = 514.33

The pixel density of display is approximately 514.33 PPI
