Where to pay the entry fee to UK? How to pay for ETA?

Where should I pay the entry fee to UK ?

When entering the country ? At the airport ? Before I travel ?

Is there anything else required or I just provide my ID, then pay the fee and everything is allright ?

To pay the entry fee, you have to apply and pay online before you travel.

Please note that you cannot enter the UK until your application is processed.

Applications should be processed within 3 working days, but sometimes it can take longer. I recommend to apply and pay at least a week before you travel.
ETA - Electronic Travel Authorization is a digital permission to travel to the UK. You must apply for ETA before you travel to the UK. You can apply and pay for UK ETA online, using a phone and downloaded app, or via the website using a web browser.

Mobile app requires quite a new versions of operating systems. So if your phone doesn't have at least Android 12 or iOS 16, you won't be able to apply for UK ETA via mobile app.

Alternatively you can apply for UK ETA using the website, that works well, but it may be busy sometimes, so you have to wait a bit. From my experience, the website worked fast in the evening (European time).

To obtain UK ETA you need:
  • Email address
  • The Passport you will travel with
  • Device with a camera, so you can scan your face
  • Photo of yourself
  • Answer some questions
  • Choose the payment method and pay the fee - currently 16 GBP
After you apply for UK ETA, you will usually get a decision within 3 working days.

ETA application is often approved faster. In my case, ETA was approved almost immediately, within a few minutes. But I recommend to not rely on fast approval. You should and apply for ETA earlier than 3 working days before you travel to the UK, because there is a possibility that your application can be rejected.
